ENJOY WATCHING THIS MOVIE GUYSOverall, I really did enjoy the film, getting it right off of my chest – The orchestrated Spider- Man theme at the beginning was epic! I had a huge smile on my face as it took me back to my childhood of watching the cartoon and got me in great mood before the film got started. This was definitely the best incarnation of Peter Parker that we have seen to date – I had high hopes for him after seeing him in Civil War anyway and Tom Holland did not disappoint. Peter was appropriately aged and was portrayed as being nerdy, yet clever. I really liked Holland's portrayal of Spider- Man, the fact that you could see him failing at certain webslings was good; this made it more believable, since if you tried doing it in real life, you'd almost certainly bump into things and injure yourself. It also made sense for that to be happening as the film was going for a 'coming of age story' for Spider- Man, rather than an origin story.

Additionally, I really enjoyed the scene where he had nothing to latch his web onto and had to run; this is something I used to query a lot as a child, so it was great to see it acknowledged in a humorous way. The Vulture was a great portrayal, much better than the cartoon series in my opinion. Michael Keaton was a great villain when he was just being Liz's dad – very calm and calculating. I also really liked his origin story at the beginning of the film and how it tied into The Avengers. All of the Avengers stuff was cool; Iron Man didn't overshadow Spidey, which I was pleased with. The new Avengers building looked great and helped to build up the hype for Infinity War. Moving onto the weaker aspects of the film: Firstly, I wasn't too keen on Peter's best friend, Ned.

Although he was moderately entertaining at times and it was good to see Peter have someone to nerd out with about Star Wars, I personally thought he was over- used and often slowed the film down. Furthermore, the pacing of the film was quite slow at times – the scene when Spidey was locked in the storage room with the bomb was particularly slow; I remember briefly drifting off and checking my watch at that point. I didn't like the fact that Vulture wasn't named as 'Vulture' in the film – people who don't know Spider- Man might not even know he was supposed to be called that. Maybe it's just me, but I enjoy referring to heroes and villains by their proper names and not their human names.

If you know what I mean? No Spider sense! Or at least it didn't feel like he had it. I noticed this because Spidey got caught off guard a few times in the film – for instance, when Vulture swooped down and picked him up; surely he should have sensed this?! However, he might still be developing this as he's learning throughout the film so it's kind of forgivable – Maybe he'll have his Spider- Senses in the next one now that he's developed more as a hero. However, I'm not too keen on the fact that Spider- Man is now overly reliant on technology.

He feels a bit too much like Iron Man rather than a radioactive teenager with spider powers. This is something that the Toby Maguire films, love them or hate them, portrayed the best in my opinion. However, the biggest problem for me was the second half of the film, when Spidey had no suit at the end. I understand that the point is to develop him as a hero in his own right and to teach him a moral lesson, but I felt that too much time was invested into it and I was really disappointed that the final battle wasn't showing Spider- Man using the powers he was supposedly learning throughout his various training modes with Karen.

Furthermore, I hate that Tony Stark is allowed to say: "If you're nothing without the suit, then you shouldn't have it." – Literally 'Pot/Kettle/Black'! Iron man without his suit is just rich. Even Captain America had the whole, "Put on the suit" fiasco with him in the first Avengers film so he really has no right to say this. In conclusion, Spider- Man Homecoming was a good film; I enjoyed a lot of it.
