CBS Fires Executive Over Comment About the Las Vegas Mass Shooting. CBS acted swiftly after one of its executives sent out a surprisingly harsh message this morning about the mass shooting Sunday night in Las Vegas. Variety reports that the network fired legal executive Hayley Geftman- Gold over the Facebook comment. Geftman- Gold was a VP and senior counsel in strategic transactions at the network. In her post, which you can see below, Geftman- Gold responded to the attack by writing: “If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that the Repugs will ever do the right thing. I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans often are republican gun toters.”The post drew a swift response, with many on social media and news outlets lashing out at her.

CBS soon followed suit by firing Geftman- Gold. Variety quotes a CBS spokesperson saying: “This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS.
